Is it normal to sniff other peoples when they arenot around?

I have been doing this since i was a kid and now im a teenager. My gutiar teacher borrowed me his gutiar to practice on and i cant practice on it when i am alone without sniffing. When im folding cloths i always half to sniff them when im alone folding cloths? Is it normal?
