Is it normal to stalk an old friend i had in school

I had a friend when i was ages 10-14 in school (we where best friends for a year or so), i moved a different school and that was over 8 years ago (with no contact since), recently ive been trying to find him on social media and basically online stalking him although it seems he is not on any social media (im not surprised by that at all), is what im doing normal?

    I looked up a childhood friend several times until she had an instagram. We messaged once or twice. But all she posted was terrible selfies and her trying to sell some kind of “be well” drinks or some shit. Definitely not someone I wanna chill with as adults

    I think its perfectly normal. There is no harm in seeing what they're up to rn.

    It's not stalking to just look up old acquaintances on the social media and see what they are up too.
