Is it normal to stare a dead animals?

This week, I was taking the dog for a walk when I found a dead green parrot. For some reason I kept staring at it. I got 3 of it's feathers (from trying to move it) and when I got home, I washed them for a long time, I don't want to get sick lol. I also washed my hands because I wasn't wearing any kinds of gloves.

I found it again today and now I want to take their exposed bones home and put them somewhere in my room. I like bones, specially animal bones, I think they're pretty cool and would look awesome as a decoration.

The bird seems like it's been dead for a while, good part of it's body is gone.

So, is it normal to stare at a dead animal like a bird? And is it normal to have this urge to take the bones home?

It sounds like some of your interest is curiosity about body structures and the decay process.

That's actually normal for people who go on to become scientist, doctors, etc.

    • That seems like it. I'm really interested on the decay process of animals.

I don't find the human body interesting at all, and there's so many unique animals with incredibly interesting body structures, I find it so fascinating!

Go find a good library and get some books on the subject and start reading. Most of what is on the internet is very short summations, although its a good place to start.

Please keep your curiosity and interest.

Contact a local college or university with a Zoology department and start a conversation with a professor (who may pass you to another professor).

They will talk to you, encourage you, and likely provide solid reference and education materials.

Also, there is no reason that you cannot be smarter than your high school science teachers in some subjects. I was (in astronomy and optics).

        You'll do well in life,

I stop to look at dead animals too, especially when their organs are exposed. A few years ago a hawk flew into my garden and bit the head of a pigeon clean off, watching the headless corpse decay day by day until eventually it’s bones were scavenged was fascinating.

There was a series a while ago on itv called “Inside Nature’s Giants” in which they dissected an elephant and blue whale corpse, amongst other large animals, you might enjoy it.

    • That seems like a cool series! I'm going to see if I can watch it later. Thanks for the suggestion!

    • I'm not a necrophiliac lol. I literally hate those who support/like necrophilia and I even feel disgust towards that shit. How did you think it was an okay thing to make such a serious assumption out of me having this weird thing of staring at dead animals?? Are you dumb?

Well I’m glad you hate all those necrophilia supporters everywhere, such a nuisance that lot. Everywhere you go it’s just necrophilia this, staring at dead animals that.

its pretty neat to shoot a deer or put down a farm animal and check out all the internal workins as you disassemble it for meat

I guess it would depend on how long you stare. When I see a dead animal I normally look long enough to identify it and then look away. I think that's normal. Most omnivores are also scavengers so I think its kind of in your DNA to look and identify.

Ugh! The decent thing would be to bury the poor creature.

    • I can't, I don't have a shovel. And the place where I found it dead is super hard to dig through.

I once stared at a dead cat and I was like "Ouchies! it sucks to be the cat".
