I have been suckin my thumb since i can rememer. Im 18 and i feel ashamed doing it. Only my boyfriend and close friend know i do it. Anyone else do it?
I've heard its a habit developed because of the natural inclination to suckle on your mother's nipple when you're young. Most kids grow out of it because:
a) They no longer have the biological urge to suckle.
b) There's social stigma attached - people think you're a 'baby' if you still do it.
I don't think it's normal to still do it at the age of 18, but I think if it's comforting and doesn't do you or anyone else any harm then it's simply an innocent habit, like biting nails or picking your nose.

but... i think she has some kind of learning disability
It's not normal but doesn't make you a freak either. It's just a bad habit IMO, like biting nails. It's still better than some bad habits some people have.
