Is it normal to suffer from insomnia due to breaking and entering???

Um, last night, my step dad, who my mother kicked out, broke into our home. He didn't take anything, or harm anyone, he just wanted to make sure my mother was okay, but I was asleep the whole time.
I haven't been able to sleep since, just thinking about how easy it would have been to enter our home, and kill me.
I mean I just keep going over and over in my head, what if it hadn't have been Kyle??? What if it had been someone else, someone who wouldn't hesitate to kill me if I woke up....
I don't know, I mean is it normal to be this affected by something like that?

  • Your title totally made me think of something sexual.

I think it's normal for you to be affected by this.

    Good idea, dappled.
You'll only feel safe once you know that the house is secure, if you can't have a dog then get some window locks if you don't have them already and dead bolts for the doors. Call the police - they can advise you on the best way to make a house secure.

We all live with this. My friend's brother and his dad were pistol-whipped and left unconscious by people who broke in while they were asleep. I always feel more secure in a house that has a dog in it, even a little dog. Best burglar alarm you can get!
