Is it normal to take hours to fall asleep?
IT (my favorite movie) usually takes me like 4 to 8 hours to fall asleep and if I do fall asleep earlier than I do I wake up at 3 AM and don't go back to sleep.

Progressive muscle relaxation worked great for me. I'd put the track on repeat and let it go all night. Eventually, it got my brain trained to fall asleep in minutes. I still use it occasionally if I'm not going to sleep well.
Not exactly normal, but I had the same issue back at high school. I had to wake up very early (like 5 am) and it took me almost the entire school year to adjust. I think going too far from your natural biological clock can be a direct cause of sleep problems, but also other things like caffeine, artificial lights and lack of exercise, emotional stress or being hungry can ruin your sleep. You need to figure our the root cause and work to fix it, if nothing else works drugs may be a last resort (talk with your doctor to get the right kind). Better than always being sleep deprived
I take approximately 5mg of melatonin from time to time, and it works really well.
