Is it normal to take offense when a person older calls you “young man”?

Kind of depends on the tone the person says it with. Did they say "young man" in a condescending way or more as a term of endearment?

Also, you're 32 but depending on how old the customer is, you ARE young by comparison

You know if the guy was like 60 to him you are a young man. You are literally half his age. To him he be an old man.

I'm older and avoid saying that because I wouldn't want anybody calling me 'old man'. It sounds ageist. I call oler people young man because it makes you feel better.

Perfectly normal, I don't like being called a woman or being compared with a woman, not even my mother (I have long hair, and I'm a man so manly I'm nothing like my mother). Here's a clue, I only observe the behaviour of young men, not old people or any women or girls, and not teenagers or children, toddlers, or babies, and not teens, I'm only mimicking a specific age group, I'm very different to the rest, and incase you don't know I'm very different to old people, very different to a child, and I take offence when someone won't stop telling me to act my age, I'm like a 27-year-old man and only like a 27-year-old man, I'm like a longhair, yes I'm like a man, I'm like a person, I'm like a good, decent, moral person, I'm like a normal person, and I'm like a man with a club whisky, probably a Canadian rye, thank you very much, I take offence when people say I'm not one of those people. People often call me young lady and I’m 45 but look younger. It feels weird that they think I’m still young. I usually let them think it. I can’t believe I’m that old myself.
