Is it normal to talk or make friends with people online?

Ever since I was a teen I have always liked
talking to people online not knowing what they look like and building small relationships. It's basically my number one place I go to for comfort. For example I like to play game with people and make friends and stuff. Is this normal? I always felt like I was part of a small group of people who actually looked forward to this.

    I have friends purely through the internet that I've "met" through common interests, so it's normal although I don't play a game, I actually want to be their friend and plus, they seem to be really nice. And I'm not some dumb naive girl who's about to run off and meet anyone before I get that back at me.

    Just be careful.

    Some people say they are from USA, had to go to Ghana/
    Nigeria dad/mum died & left thema a fortune,

    and then scam you for money.Be careful :)

    Im exactly the same it just bring comfort to know they're there for you. It also nice to have someone who wants you to be their friend

    I would never give out my address but most the people I talk to I've known for at least 2 years and have become comfortable enough with some I've become friends on Facebook.

    Totally normal. I have many friends online. A group of friends in Indonesia, a guy in Italy, and a group of friends in Texas. I've also recently gotten to know a girl in North Carolina, and a couple people in England. I do plan on visiting my Indonesian friend one day since we've known each other for years and have gotten super close. But if I ever hit the lottery I'm traveling all over the world and visiting my friends. :)

    I know these people are legit though, but I don't know you so I can't speak for you. Keep in mind, if you're talking to someone and they don't show you a pic of them, they very well could be lying about their identity. If you plan on meeting any of your interweb friends in person, be sure to at least get to know them well enough to know they're legit. Just giving you some tips.
