Is it normal to talk to your pets?

My hubby and I talk to our dogs, and even talk for our dogs.. They are like children to us and we can carry on complete conversations for them.. They each seem to have very specific personalities and we feel confident that we know what there thinking at times. Is it normal, or are we totally nuts?

It is quite normal to talk to your pets, if nothing else as a means of psychological bonding than anything. I talk to my dog constantly not only does she react positively when I do, she has quite an expanded understanding of words, tones and inflections. I can't speak for other species, but dogs and cats may not be able to understand the entire conversation, but they do listen, learn and will eventually pick things up.

Trust me. All big animal livers do this. The people without animals are the only ones that think it strange

You gotta talk to your doggies! I do. And my cats. They know what your saying most if the time. I kinda get mad at my son though. He will say mean words to my dog but say it so sweet. My dog is happy as a clam because she is being paid attention to. Sometimes I tell my woes to my dog. She seems to listen better than humans.
