Is it normal to tell my teacher the truth ?

If My English is bad JUST IGNORE IT & CONTINUE READING :D .
Last year was horrible for me. I met new students, and there was kind of misunderstanding between us.
It was our habits to take pictures of the teachers in different positions, to laugh at them when we were bored(kind of childish I know).But things went out of control, one of us starts to put the pictures in the web and photoshop them. I was pissed first because they broke the deal. Second people told me that was a crime and if anyone knows we will go to jail, I freaked out and tried to stop the students from doing stupid things. So some of them was pissed because I changed. So he took my picture and photoshop it with a picture of another teacher(writing in my back a slut, calling me a teacher's pet, the club's bitch and so many names).They started to threat me with different things. I gave up but .... that teacher was in troubles bacause of that.
So I decided to send him a letter telling him just to be careful from the students and to pay more attention (without saying any names of who did it). I will make him not to say my name too.
So is this is a good idea ? If not tell me what to do. I feel guilty for what happened to him.
Is this normal because I don't want him to feel awkward.

    Be completely honest with your teacher. Don't be afraid to name names. Otherwise, how else will they be able to get these punks to stop?

    I agree with Avant-Garde on this one. You should suck it up and just be completely straight forward with your teacher. Let him know who did these things and why.

    I like it how you refer to your classmates as "the students". I can see how people might get the impression that your a teachers pet. Funny stuff.

    Yeah I think this probably is a crime considering you first off got it without permission, posted it online without permission and than its defamation of character. If you know its going on tell your teacher. I think he would probably be easier on you knowing you told him the truth and punish them for going too far with it.
