Is it normal to test the knife on your self?

well I have a habit of whenever I sharpen the knife to test it on the back of my arm, it doesn't hurt, it just feels cold and the bleeding usually don't last long. I know theres something called "cutting" but as long as I don't hit any vital artery's, its okay, right?

Can't you test it on something else? How about food?

No, not a good idea. However, it isn't "cutting" in terms of self injury unless you enjoy harming yourself. if you do not enjoy the pain or the sight of your own blood and you are actually doing it to "feel" the sharpness of the knife then it's a bad idea but not "self injury" in the psychological sense of the term

I test the edge with my finger

Why not just test it on your fingertips? They can grow back completely no matter what. It's also unnecessary to cut yourself deep enough to bleed. All in all, this just seems like a troll.

it's the best and fastest way of finding out how sharp the knife is, besides it's impossible to get hurt since there are no major artery's on the back of the arm and the scars are so small they fade away in 1-2 years maybe less.

  • I use my fingertips. I can literally "feel" how sharp it is.

Ouch on the back of the arm? Anyways yes it's okay as long as you don't mind scars and as long as you don't wound yourself badly.
