Is it normal to think im going to hell.

i was raised in a christian home, and Christianity is all around me...but as i grew older i started to doubt the christian doctrine and even started to disbelieved in a supreme being on a whole. i now say I'm agnostic and i think its because i don't want to admit that I'm an atheist. when i think hard about it i think I'm going to hell.

#i need advice and wouldn't mind if you mentioned your religious status

For the purpose of this post here are my definitions:
God = The creator of all
God's Rules = What God says you must do
Hell = The place you go if you break "God's Rules"
Atheist = Believes there is no God
Agnostic = Believes what he can see

    LOGIC
If there is no God then there is no "God's Rules"
If there is no "God's Rules" then there is no Hell.
Therefore if Atheism is correct, there will be no Hell.

An Agnostic has not seen God, God's Rules, or Hell... therefore a true Agnostic should not have a fear of Hell for he will not believe in it's existence.

    IF GOD EXISTS
It is highly unlikely that an actual literal Hell exists.

A place of torment for ALL humans who do not believe in Christ, where they will be in constant pain and suffering for ALL time.

It would take an unreasonable, illogical, unloving, malevolent, vindictive, vengeful, sadistic, and evil God to allow for such a situation.

    THEREFORE:
You have nothing to worry about Hell-wise.

Still... It's CRUCIAL to be good. There are MANY concepts independent of Hell that would indicate that living a good life is better than living a bad one.

Karma is one such concept. There are two concepts of Karma. That what you do will affect you in THIS life. And the other concept is that what you do in this life will affect you in the NEXT life.

Another concept is that of Attraction. Beings are basically good. Therefore if you DO bad... your OWN higher consciousness will Attract what you know you deserve.

And the final concept: Everything we do can be seen subconsciously by others. If you are a good person, better things will happen to you than if you are bad. People can tell. And doors will open or shut that you cannot explain...

first of all, you have to believe in a higher power, there just is someone out there that does all these stuff to work, I suggest that you convert to catholicism, it really works trust, now if you believe in god and jesus and all the saints and never done anything bad in your whole entire life you dont have to fear, if you believe in god andhave done nothing wrong you might fear a bit, if you dont believe in god and done something bad you can fear, if you dont believe in god ad done something bad then you can shit urself from fearing.

Hell is a horribly mean trick used to scare people into believing. Just as one needs faith to become religious, one needs anti-faith to become atheist.
That is to say that when becoming religious, you are held back by overwhealming logic, and when becoming atheist, you are held back by fear, pressure and things you know don't make sense.

I think you should just enjoy your life and not feel guilty and do what makes sense for you. If it makes you happy do it, if not, then don't. I believe in God, God is love and what beings us all together. God is what is positive in the world, just think of God as Love. Put all the negative crap away, practice focusing on the positives. I think that thinking of he'll all the time doesn't make sense, it's not a positive thought. So choose to believe in love and not fear. It's normal to be a little paranoid what with the thoughts he'll enforce, from society. But just imagine that it's all unsupportive, therefore turn away from it. Turn away from the belief of hell, it is evil. Everyone will be fine! You'll be fine! God is love therefore God loves you unconditionally. Just think about someone you love unconditionally, you can better see how God loves you!

Maybe when you were raised you had a distant relationship with God, or maybe it's the Godly home you were raised in, but if you are having a gutly, or supernatural feeling like that, I would honor it.

I am a follower of Christ now, but I use to be an agnostic. I think I was agnostic since birth. Contrary to everything I've been told, I think I always felt like I knew. Even as a Christian I am not sure where I stand on hell but instead of submitting to fear, I would follow the path that leads you out of sin. Maybe he will draw you closer to him. Only time will tell.

        I hope all is well,

        Alec.

It's part conscience, part conditioning to feel ashamed. (Depends on the situation.) Many taboos exist for practical reasons but they need not be taken seriously all the time. Honor yourself.

I once heard that the original Hebrew meaning for sin was "misstep." Like missing the mark.

Would divinity frown on you? Or would it simply shine through you when the time was right and your mind was clear?

Please don't worry. There may be an afterlife but disenchantment with a doctrine should not damn you in that case. At most it will damn you socially, and only in this life.

I was you my senior year of high school. I too was raised with Christian beliefs, and believed it for the majority of my life. I finally can admit I'm an atheist, but still try to stay out of religious conversations in my family's presence. Out of respect, being in their home and all.

But you see, if you don't feel "God", don't waste time trying to. It's okay to have an evolved perception of the world around you. It's okay to believe in science, after all, when you do your research about the bible and realize Christians are fucking nuts... Well I'll try not to be rude, I just had a lot of negative experiences with the church and the faith. Not to be bias, as I said, I used to REEEALLY believe. Once you start to discover more about yourself, and who you are.. You'll know how you feel about the universe and what you've been told. It's okay to believe something different than your family.

Just be yourself, put your happiness first and everything else will fall into place.

God gives humans free will, including the choice whether or not to believe in him. Even if you're an atheist, as long as you're a good person overall you'll go to heaven if it exists, which I believe it does. If hell exists, I would only hope that cold heartless people go there, such as murderers, rapists, pedos, child/animal abusers, etc...because they take innocent lives or cause suffering to innocent people or other living things with feelings.

I am atheist although my family is non-practicing Catholic. You've been taught all your life that Christianity is ultimate truth and that non-believers go straight to hell. But what you should know is that this is not necessarily true, and that everyone should be allowed to believe what they will without being judged or condemned.

If you begin to believe that there is no God, that is perfectly normal and perfectly alright. Everyone's beliefs are different, so you may not believe in God but still believe in a heaven or a hell. But know that what the bible preaches is not necessarily true, and that if "God" is truly good like they say, he would not care what you believe, and would never condemn anyone for what they think or who they love or anything.

So if you've broken away from what your family believes and have taken an intellectual independence, that is brilliant and don't let anyone tell you that you're a bad person. You don't need to be ashamed to admit anything about your religious beliefs.

Well first of all I'm a scientist so I absolutely do not believe in any kind of life after death. Secondly let's pretend for a minute that heaven and hell existed, if I had to relive another life with the type of people who will be in heaven then I would fucking kill myself. It's better to reign in hell than serve in heaven.
