Is it normal to think librarians are judging me based on what i read?

I frequent the library, and the amount of books I check out and actually read is a bit excessive. If it's an option, I always use the self-checkout so the librarian isn't like "Damn, that's a lot of books," or "Who do you think you are, hoarding all these books and then renewing them?" or "Oh, it's you, the one who reads about (insert genre here)." Although this has never happened.

Also, on rare occasions, I'll visit the young adult or children's section of a library or bookstore, and I always think people are thinking I'm a pedophile, or that I'm mentally challenged and have the mind of a child.

Why am I so self-conscious about my book habits?

A pedophile. Thats hilarious. I always think that the checkout person at every grocery store is judging me. One time I bought only toothpaste and a bottle of gin so maybe they deserve to judge.

Yes, whenever I check out books, I feel the raised eyebrows that aren't there coming from the librarian.

    I think they probably are.

I've never worried that librarians are judging my choices (aside from the time I decided to nerd out and check out old children's computer games I found that I used to play in grade school. I used the self check out for that one), but I'm self conscious about my purchases in grocery stores. Do they think I'm a self righteous health nut? Are they judging my abundant stock of cheetos and oreos? I always felt that food was really personal. Perhaps you find the books you read to be personal to you?
