Is it Normal to think Mars One project will never even get off the ground?

Or if it does, that it will be an absolute disaster?

"People will start dying within 68 days.

Some say it is a suicde mission that simply can’t be achieved.

Mars is 56 million kilometres from Earth and would take a minimum of seven months to reach. Even if the colonists survived the journey, experts say they wouldn’t last long on the planet.

“The first crew fatality would occur approximately 68 days into the mission,” a report by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology found last year.

“Some form of oxygen removal system is required, a technology that has not yet been developed for space flight.”

I don't really get why they made that shit in the first place I mean they could all just teleport to mars.

If people want to risk their lives for the glory of science that's their fault. I think they're pretty dumb, but I'd still watch if they sent cameras with them or made a tv show out of it or something.

It will go. I am an optimist. My space craft is half full. :)

It's a dumb idea. Why not develop a way to terraform Mars with genetically engineered microbes, over the next 1000 years. Some kind of sustainable ecology would increase options in the 4th millennium.

Mars barely has a magnetosphere due to it cool core which means uv rays are abundant and extra deadly. Plus it gets to frigid temps during the day an even colder temps at night

    • Yes I agree these great explorations have to start somewhere, but I think leaving it to an agency such as NASA would give it a much greater chance of success.

Yeah, it seems like a too troublesome and risky process to me as well. We'd be better off not risking it.
