He IS an imposter! He came to this country illegally from Mexico and when he goes back home, he brags about how the fucking gringos will believe anything and how he's made a shitload of money making them think he can "whisper" to dogs and make them do what he says!

@OP: Technically, the "tricks" are in some cases prepared. Iirc, before he leaves he will give the owner(s) some instructions on what to work on with the dog. Indeed, there may be some cases where the whole thing is staged. However, in some cases involving dogs that generate miscellaneous widespread mayhem, those are probably authentic (if not edited by total film-wizards), simply because you can teach a dog commands for "Bark", or "Bite", or "Get up on the furniture I'm indicating", but not long sequential tasks like "Run to the window and bark then dig in the trash can, chase the cat, chew the couch, pee on the rug, and bark again". Routines like this would take stop-and-go filming, much editing and a hell of a lot of reshoots. Not to mention having to go get the cat from wherever it ran to and convince it to come back again... So probably some staged, some good and the guy at least has to know how to give commands to the dogs and be obeyed. (The last bit not that hard if you know the correct tone of voice and have the pretrained dog provided to you, but there IS something specific that you need to do to have the dog really obey.)

Whining "Siiiit downnn Mister Moooofles pleaaaaase" for instance doesn't work; whining voices being supplication in a dog's eyes. It requires an ability to speak authoritatively, as a master to one who must obey the master. Dogs don't understand "Please do this"- they only get "Do this now". That's basically the entire point of the show, really. "Dog, we humans are your masters. You must obey our commands."

You don't have to "impersonate" a particular individual in order to be an "imposter," Dumbass! He's an imposter because he's posing as someone who can do something he cannot do!
