Well, speaking from the Mormon point of view...
We generally don't talk about the souls of animals, some people believe in them and some don't, but generally speaking, all animals would go to heaven.
This is because animals can not sin. Sin is a product of free agency, in other words, you sin when you have the ability and make the conscious decision to sin. Someone that does not have the ability to modify their actions does not have free agency and free agency is a requirement to sin.
Animals do not have free agency. They are, ultimately, at the mercy of their instincts much like someone who is mentally challenged is at the mercy of their faulty neurology. Being that they can not sin, they have nothing to atone for and they are automatically accepted into heaven. The reason that people with free agency are not given such a privilege is because they sin and sins need to be atoned for.
This is strictly speaking from the point of view of my religious beliefs.
Animals have such different and unique personalities, so it's hard for me to think they are soulless.
Haha, that "Family Guy" when the dogs went to Hell and the Devil was scaring them with the vacuum cleaner.
I believe that dogs can have souls bcuz they love. I remember seeing stories about ghosts of dogs on unsolved mysteries, which would be consistant. Buddists believe we reincarnate into dogs and cats to co-habitate with humans.. which makes sense too. This is what i lean towards believing, but still keep an open mind. Things that seem far fetched u never know could be true. Automaticallu dismissing something w/o giving it a chance is the best way to never know the real truth.
I don't think that's an uncommon thing to think. What about dogs who are huge jerks, though?
Where is this "heaven" you speak of? Exactly? Can you explain the location? Believing does not make it so. Read a Science Book. There is a difference between "Faith" and "Fact". Sorry to break it to you, but there is no actual/literal "heaven" as a structural physical place people retreat to. It is a Religious Faith Based concept.
Some believe heaven is a thing to enjoy on earth while you are alive.
Enjoy
If you did believe in Heaven or Hell, which I don't, then you would have to believe in God. And if you believe in God, you would know that there would be no dogs in Heaven because God didn't create dogs, they were created by humans, so they're mutants. If there was a Heaven, I'm sure it wouldn't be full of DOG SHIT!
