Is it normal to think there are loopholes in the bible?

now before i go on with my story, i dont want any bible bashers or atheist bashers commenting. thanks.

according to the bible it says that it doesnt matter what "god" you believe in, as long as you believe. so in saying that, there are people out there who see the "devil" as being their "god". they pray to the "devil" blah blah. and believing in one automatically means you believe in the other. so if you still believe in a "god (the devil)", does that automatically mean that "god" will accept you into "heaven"?

i hope you can understand what i am trying to ask. cheers!

I'm not religious at all, but isn't one of the ten commandments "Thou shall not worship false idols/prophets/Gods"?

The bible isn't a legal document. It doesn't stand up to scrutiny but it's had people believing in it for this long so there's obviously something worthy of note there.

HELLL NO! You WILL go to hell I you do not believe in GOD! Not the devil, not some fricken idol! And your wrong about what the BIBLE says! The bible is Gods word not something you can play with and make your own rules up with!!!!! You will not be accepted into heaven if you worship the devil or anything other the only real God.

We have 4 paths to go by in life. Our emotions, our gut, our conscious or the external. Too me, the holy trinity is having the first 3 in alliance with one another and in control of the external. As soon as you let the external control how you feel, what you think, and what you're gut is telling you, you've lost that harmony, or divinity if you will. You must be ruled internally, and not by external things (materialism VS Spirituality? I think yes). Personally, I feel like their is an intelligent power behind all 3 that wants good, but when ruled by the external, can be manipulated into evil (God VS Satan). So perhaps it's not that there are more than one God, or source for creation, just different ways of approaching the pathways he left for us to guide our lives by. Or, maybe I smoke too much. lol Peace.

There are over 100 contradictions or 'mistakes' in the bible, it cannot be taken as an absolute. It should be read and used as it was intended, as a guide to being a good Christian and to support your faith in God.

I'm not sure this is a good example of an inconsistency in the bible. First of all, I'm pretty sure the bible does not say it's ok to worship whatever god you want...according to the bible there is only one god, and it's God, so you have to worship that god or you're out. At the time the modern bible became popular, there were a host of Greek and Roman gods, so you couldn't worship Zeus and be cool with the Xian God. Same thing when Xianity moved North, Norse people couldn't worship Thor and be cool with the Xian God, Pagans couldn't have an old school fire-mosh to Mother earth with antlers on and call it Xianity, there were inquisitions and a lot of deaths over this shit.

Secondly, according to biblical text, Satan was an angel, not a god, that's the whole reason he was cast out of heaven, he kept questioning God as an equal and doing his own thing. So devil worshipers are not worshiping a god, they're worshiping an angel...a false god, so this is not internally inconsistent.

Well here is one loop hole I know lesbians like to use. The bible said that "man shall not lay with men" and so its ok for women to be gay but not for men to gay. Since they never specified FEMALES should not lay with other FEMALES. Also one of the rules in the bible at least the Christian one says you can only worship the one true god. Not any other god.

Hmm good question but so to say in the bible the devil simply wouldn't count as a god and so the rest is unnecessary... but you are right there are many antagonisms in the bible!

  • Great question. The thing is the bible is not the word of God. Of course it doesn't matter even if you believe in a God at all you will still go to "heaven" (the afterlife within the universe). Any God. It's all the same God. And yes even the devil IS the same God. There are two sides to everything, and God is experiencing all it's facets through each life that exists.

I'm also surprised the bible actually says you can believe in any God. Where does it say that? I can't believe people try and go around converting people if their own book says it doesn't matter!

  • "according to the bible it says that it doesnt matter what "god" you believe in, as long as you believe."

Where does it say this exactly?

The bible is only an interpretation of events, nowhere does it say god sat down to write it. That's why you have loopholes, and atheists.

Don't word for word follow the bible; interpret it however you want to live a meaningful and fulfilling life.
Some of it is rational, some of it is complete nonsense. Use your best judgment.

the Bible contradicts itself several times, because it was written by different people and then edited together by people completely different than the original authors. please tell me, in what chapter and verse does the Bible indicate any worshiping any god is okay? i'm honestly not aware of this and would love to learn something new today :-)

First of all, I will believe it says that, when I see the passages, or what I call: Proof.

If the bible says it, then yeah. Or maybe it's one of it's infinite contradictions.

    Just saying.

    =D
