Is it normal to transfer to a university and live in the dorms?

SO im really struggling about my whole situation going to a community college because i didnt give myself enough credit to apply to universities cause i was afraid of getting rejected and im not good with rejection so i just rather have not applied. When i found out who got in where, i felt like i could have been president sorry but its the truth and i wanted to slap myself because if i did apply, i now know i wouldve gone in to some and live in the dorms living the true college experience :-) but noooo i didnt have enough confidence and stayed at a community BLAH. I am excited to transfer and live the college life but when i think about it, is it going to be too late? Am i going to be too old to live in the dorms and party and stuff? By the way, im 18 and plan to transfer in less than two years. So yeah, while all my friends, ESPECIALLY, the ones who arent so determined and academic and still got in some universities (theyre easy not gonna mention names but theyre pretty easy to get in which made me not wanna apply even more cause what if i got rejected from an easy school -_- how embarrassing!) are dorming, partying, AWAY FROM HOME, living the college experience, im living at home going to college where its like the sec home of my high school so i see too many of the same faces BARF. Yah im in hell and cannot wait to get out but want to still live in the dorms but i dont know if thats common or right.
