Is it normal to type on myself as if i were a keyboard?
Ever since I learned how to type on a keyboard (6 years ago), I have had a habit of "typing" on my leg or chest, imaging there is a keyboard there. I do this for words people are saying--sometimes I try to keep up with them, pretending I am writing the Closed Captions on TV.
I also do it for songs I'm listening to, or random words that pop into my head.
But this habit goes deeper: I've made a game out of it...
Imagine a keyboard. There are three rows of letters. Let's call them the top row, middle row, and bottom row. (On a QWERTY keyboard, of course.)
So, during the day, if a word or sentence comes into my mind and I begin "typing" it out on myself, I keep track of the amount of letters in each row. Did I lose you yet? I hope not, here's an example:
The word "barnyard." (Yes, including the period!) B,N,and the period are all in the bottom row. A,A,D are in the middle row. R,Y,R are in the top row.
I consider this a "perfect" word. It has the same amount of letters in each row, including the period.
Generally, however, I only keep track of the middle and top rows, as the bottom row tends to have not as many letters show up. So, a "perfect" word could also be "rastafaris". This word has 5 letters in the top row and 5 in the middle, and is especially "good" because it is a longer word.
The real fun comes when you make sentences...
Is ANY of this relevant to ANYONE out there? I've always wondered.
