Is it normal to unintentionally overshadow other people?

I'm a bubbly ,intelligent, talkative and sociable young woman - I always knew I had a big personality but I didn't realise how big until last week. I was at training in a room with about 40 people and for some reason, the facilitator of the training remembered only my name (despite my not wearing my name tag) and would pick me out of the crowd for examples etc. I did absolutely nothing to encourage her but everytime I spoke I seem to over shadow the other girls more and more. This seems to happen a lot, is it normal? I could be dead quiet but someone will always try to draw me out and once they have I just take over

  • It could mean two things

    1. Your verry good at what your doing.
    or
    2. The rest are very bad.

Normal! You my dear must have a very charismatic way of carrying yourself, and you just seem to draw others in! Consider yourself fortunate! ^_^

thanks!!! I was starting to worry if somethings not right with me, if I was sending out wierd vibes. Lol - like people have this irresistable urge to tell me things

No shit...I forgot what you wrote a second after reading it. I guess a desperate need for attention doesn't carry over through text.

You sound like you have self-awareness enough to realise that you are doing this. Perhaps use some of your sociability to bring others out of themselves and allow them to shine. But not in a holiday rep kind of way. No-one likes that person!

Dappled I always look forward to your responses they're so insightful. Thing is a lot of my friends are also bright bubbly people, so when I'm with them I don't notice just how much attention I can draw without even trying. Its only when they're not there that I stick out like a sore thumb. Not that I'd let that stop me

I don't think it's too much of a problem. I wilfully try to draw attention away from myself when I'm first in a big group of strangers, so anyone who is helping me do that by attracting attention to themselves is fine by me.

I actually think I got too much and maybe that's why I love it so much! I can't help how animated I am.

  • The fact that you've come out in your own story tells me you crave attention. Daddy not give you enough attention growing up? :]

Why thank you, type A personalities are typically analytical and of course in the word analytical we find another word, anal! Love it

  • The denial in this one is strong...

The only way to defeat this troll is to stop responding to the threads it makes. It puts the fingers off the keyboard. IT PUTS THE FINGERS OFF THE KEYBOARD!!
