Is it normal to unplug stuff to protect your animals?

I have pets. Sometimes my pets will try to play with the cords to things like the tv. If the cords are not in an area where they are not visible I unplug them when I leave the room or leave the house. I always have this fear my animals will chew on them and electrocute themselves.

Either separate the animals or put the cords in conduits that you can buy at Home Depot.

Leaving things plugged in is a good way of breaking them of chewing cords.

thats a good idea! but maybe try and keep your animals in a area that doesnt have so many cords so you dont have to worry about that stuff.....

In regards to your dogs, try putting the cords up high, in a spot that would be hard for them to reach.

My kitten likes to play with cords. It's a concern that one day she might bite through the cord while it is still plugged up. She been getting better with this so, there's probably not much need to worry. Firmly tell the kittens to stop. Don't shout. Try to distract her with another type of toy. How often do you play with them? It could just as easily be that they are bored and crave your attention.

Of course it's normal, they're your babies, you love them and want to protect them!

Yes. This happened to someone's cat. It damaged his mouth and he drools and they put a shirt on him to keep him from grooming himself and drooling all over his fur. Really sad.

I definitely take those precautions with dogs and my cat doesn't do things like that but I'd say you should definitely watch out if they're young! They're bound to chew something up.
