Is it normal to use my wife's fears to my advantage in a joke?

Now I know what some of you guys are thinking, but please hear me out. My wife has a huge fear of spiders, and knowing how she'll react I use this to my advantage in a joke.

For example, I'll lay pizza dough on the kitchen counter near my wife while she's in the kitchen. I'll bring out a fake spider, lay it on the floor and the moment she sees it she'll jump 5 feet into the air and land her butt on the dough squishing it.

Another example is when my wife is in the hallway. I'll lay down about 10 grapes and then I'll come out and scare her with the spider again and she'll step on all of the grapes.

Is this normal?

My husband is so scared of spiders, I had a pretty convincing fake one and put it by his pillow just under the edge of the covers. Holy shit it was sooooo funny! He let out a funny noise and jumped back so far. It was hysterical!!! I almost peed myself

  • I'm terrified of spiders, but I think what you are doing is funny.

I put a fake rubber snake in the toilet for my roommate to discover in the morning. It worked. She came after me with a kitchen knife.

This goes deeper than just being a joke. As a man you HAVE to be able to tease a girl in order to keep things in the relationship spicy / alive. NOTHING wrong with using her fear and turning it into a joke for your entertainment.

Yum ass pizza sounds so tasty. But that is a common fear, but fear is just in the mind. There is nothing to fear except fear itself.

    how does she react afterwards?

Does she do the same to you or is it all one way?

What are your fears and how would you feel if it was done to you?

Send her the following in an email when you/she is at work:

    "Hey honey!

I was walking down the street to grab lunch when I spotted Justin Bieber! You know how much I love masturbating to his sacred image, so I got him to agree to snap a picture with me! Check it out!

    Love you!"

Or, you know, something like that.

Totally normal. That's one of the fun things with pranks, you can use their fears to your advantage to make it funnier.
As long as it isn't a fear/phobia that is really severe that will make them hate you for life.

I wouldn't hate someone for life, but if they put a live insect on / near me (a creepy one, say, a house centipede...)

Well, after I was done trying to get away from it, and likely vomiting, and shaking with cold and clammy skin? I probably wouldn't let my partner touch me for quite a while and I would cry and hate it even more because I would feel so ASHAMED of my fear, because it's irrational.

Some fears are really this bad. Gotta watch out for those.
