Is it normal to use petrol for a barbecue?

Someone told me about this, it seems odd, but I don't know if it's just me thinking it's odd, or if it's normal to use petrol to light the fire for a barbecue.

Use charcoal fluid... Gas just makes everything you cook smell like an Alfa Romeo project car.

I see someone knows about old, sporty British cars. They look amazing, but they break down constantly.

Seriously, I think classic British car owners are probably masochists...

It's a normal thing to do if you're going for the always cool no-eyebrows and no-eyelashes look, and you love the smell of singed hair.
