I have walked on my toes all my life and I'm 5'6". It's not genetic, pigeon toed or anything like that (pigeon toed is when your feet face in instead of out). Your feet still face outward when you walk on you toes. It just meants that the tendons in the back of your ankle are shorter then there supposed to be. That is if you have done it all your life like I have. It can be fixed with surgery. In the surgery what they to is go in and cut the tendons and tie them back together. The healing process takes awhile (that is what one of the nurses I know told me). You could try stretching them out (which is what I do now) but you have to be careful thought cause you can pop your tendons by doing this. If you have young kids, or young childern in your family, and you see them walking on their toes. You can prevent them from having short tendons by just telling them or teaching them to walk flat footed (heal to toe). The only thing bad that I was notice about this is that I do hurt my ackle alot. It's because walking on your toes can throw you off balence some times and you can roll your ankle really easy. I have talk to a nurse about it and she said that the tendons might pop one day if I'm not to careful about what I do. A tip if you try stetching out your tendons: If the back of your anckle starts to hurt stop streaching it for about a week to make sure you don't pop it.
I walk on my toes too and have done all my life! I'm only 4"11 (and fully grown) but apparently it can be caused by the use of baby walkers! That's what my doctor told me anyway :)
Although I'm on the taller side, I do rather enjoy walking on my toes when no one is watching. I'll roam around using various heights and pretend that I am soaring through the skies. This form of walking is usually accompanied by an extending of the arms to match the changes in height.
It may seem childish, but there is a purpose. All of the flight training during the day will assist my technique during the night, when I dream. It helps me create and gauge a flight pattern to apply while faced with the aerial physics of my subconscious mind. As a result, I've gained the ability to fly in almost every dream I have.
Plus, it's quite excellent for those tricky heels as well. ;)
Me too :}, and I am also short (5'0"). My brother is like 6'3" and he used to do this but he trained himself to walk properly. My niece also walks like this. She's only 3 but she's like up to my chest.
