Its not normal to think those things have something to do with owning a parrot lol.
I've wanted one too but just remember they live long and are upset easily so you'll have to put in less time looking at yourself than looking after the parrot :p
They're super smart, but really expensive and usually taken from wild nests. They also bite a lot and live for years. Scarlet macaw can live for 70+ years. That's a hell of a commitment, atleast a kid leaves the house when they're 18 haha. That thing is gonna be squawking away the day your first social security check comes.
It is always normal to want an animal companion, it is easily one of the many greatest experiences one can have in their life!
My advice will sound like a broken record but remember to do your research and think about the long term as pets do require a commitment and planning.
Parrots much like any other birds are fun pets... well till it's night and your trying to get some sleep. My only advice as a guy that grew up with many different types of pets, if you are going to get a parrot make sure you feed it well and sleep in a completely other room than it or it won't shut up.
I'm 19 and I have two parrots- a sun conure and a quaker. They are great and I love to spend time with them. ^^
It's normal for just about anyone to want to own just about any kind of pet, really. Myself, I'd love a nice eclectus or similar. I've had smaller birds like canaries, but you can't really tame or handle most of them very well, and in the future, I would prefer an animal that I can actually interact with on a greater level than just whistling at them through their cage bars. As for parrots in specific, the potential to talk and mimic is particularly intriguing. c:
I'd say it's normal to want one :). They can be very rewarding pets and fantastic companions.
However I would definitely urge you to consider it very carefully; they require so much time and attention that they are definitely no small commitment. You need to have loads of time to spend with them, and be prepared to sacrifice your home to their incredible volume and their incessant need to crap all over your belongings. Most importantly, they will have the time of their lives destroying absolutely everything!
I've had 2 parrots before. One of whom we managed to toilet train, but he would scream incessantly for hours whenever we left the room. The other is far quieter, but she is still such a handful; you can't take your eyes off them for a second.
But they're wonderful conversationalists, and truly affectionate if you put the effort in :). So definitely normal to want one!
It would make your pirate Halloween costume complete! All you would have to do is learn to walk around on a peg leg!
Seriously though, they are very easily stressed out animals and require a TON of attention and care. If you have the time to give these birds what they need, owning one is a very rewarding experience and your pet will be with you for many years to come! My father had one, and it was a good companion to me growing up, but Squak (yes that was what my father named him don't laugh) recently passed and it felt like losing one of the family.
Even though they can be rather noisy and tend to shit all over the place i would also like one...
Why does it matter how old you are or whatever?
I'm 23, have barely any friends, not good looking really, career pfft and I intend to have a grey parrot called Monty when I'm older XD
I'm being serious btw about all that, I do want a grey parrot called Monty.
You seem to be a case in point, usually people like you want parrots, but i still want one, even though im opposite to you,
Yes! I want one, too. But since they're wild animals, trafficking laws protect them in some countries. Can you get one where you live? If so, go for it, they're fun as hell! (if hell is actually any fun).
Great, as long as you don't keep it in a cage. Your best bet is to go somewhere parrots live in the wild and just adopt them as pets in your mind, help them if they need it, but otherwise just enjoy looking at them and leave them largely alone.
Nooooo. Everyone knows cats don't kill birds. Ahem. Cough. Six hundred. Cough. They're grrrrrrrrrreat! Parrot pie! Grrr! Nom nom. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
Sorry! I don't know what came over me, there. No parrots. Nope. Not a single one.
Ahhh, parrots! Such crunchy beaks. The stuff dreams are made of.
But no. No parrots eaten by this tiger.
Nom.
No!
Uh huh... I don't believe a word you just said Mr. Tony. In fact, I'll bet you would eat a parrot right now if you had the chance!
Parrot murderer!
Do you by any chance have a parrot? You do? Can I... see it? Please? Oh joy! What a beautiful little morsel *cough* I mean macaw. Can I perhaps hold the bird for a little while? Oh, you're so kind.
Look, over there! A dinosaur! Look! Look now!
Nom! Did you see it? Nom! Oh no! In the mayhem, your bird appears to have flown away *cough* and left a tail feather stuck in my teeth.
