Is it normal to want everyone to live forever?

I mean everyone, even people who want to die or people that many people might find deserve to die.

Basically I want everyone who ever lived to be brought back and that everyone lives forever whether they want to or not.

That would be a very depressing and boring world... even worse than the "world peace" idea. Ridiculous, really.

I woke up yesterday morning with pretty severe chest pains and thought that maybe I was approaching my last few moments of life. I thought about my friends at the funeral, about where I live being cleared out so someone else could move in. I even thought about IIN and how I'd posted my last post and hadn't got to say goodbye to any of you.

It was a muscle spasm rather than a heart attack but, even so, at that time I'd quite like to have lived forever.

So, yeah, as long as we all stayed the age we are (including children) and no more humans were born.

Ahh, thanks, and yes, me too. I know all human beings, like groceries, have an expiry date and some of us, like salad, expire early. I don't want to be salad. I want to be salt. That never seems to expire.

        • How old are you by the way?
Sorry if it's a rude thing to ask, I just really want to know since I've been reading your comments the whole time I've been on IIN.

Than you must die your self for that to happen. Life comes with a price of death.

Uh, well. Thinking about death is weird for me. I'm totally accepting of dying. But when I think about my friends, parents, a random old couple, my future children. I don't want them to suffer or die, I suppose this is normal though. Never thought of it on a large scale, would be a bad idea all around unless we were able to find other planets to inhabit before we made the switch. It would be weird, and raises a lot of moral questions. I for one would chose not to live forever for various reasons.

The rich would chop are balls off so we cant have children. We would all suffer because we would have no food and wish for death. And I would tie three virgin girls in my basement and chop off there arms and eat them because they would grow back. That means I would live off of sweet smooth young innocent young girls forever!

Who would wanna fucking live forever?! I surely wouldn't. The world would be so overpopulated the government would just have to start killing people. And I wanna know what Heaven is like :)

  • I wanted Michael Jackson to live forever, it is hard to fathom that such a great man like him is no longer alive!!!

    well..
    its a fascinating idea.

    But..
if we brought back everyone, there would be no room for us, we'd drown in eachother, and since nobody can die, we'd be like sardines for all eternaty.

No. Overpopulation is already fairly high, we don't need anymore stupid and vapid people roaming the earth after their deserved time. That would just be nonsensical.

    THE POPULATION, IT BURNS!!!

simply put, the world would be overpopulated and i'd be forced to kill people >:3

this idea is anti-autistic -.- although i voted yes...

Nope. Aside from the obvious issue of overpopulation and running out of resources, there are people who just don't deserve to live. I also believe the right to suicide should be respected as much as the right to life, provided a person is of sound mind.

And frankly, I don't want to be immortal. To me, the idea of having to live forever in this world with no possibility of escaping, even if the escape was to nothingness, is infinitely worse than death.

No, there's too many problems with this idea.

    Comment Hidden ( show )
  • I have to not agree with that. I would like to live forever but not everyone. What do we do about the whole reproduction problem?

The world is already getting overpopulated. If no one died and the birthrate was the same, the population would be growing at a even more alarming rate. Humans would probably try to hurry up the process on terraforming our planetary neighbors (mars and venus) while also looking for more habitable planets. Imagine how long that would take. Probably a bit too long. If the land ran out of room then there'd be the ocean and Antarctica left, but the arctic is melting. As the waters rise there would be even less land, so we'd probably start to live underwater and that would take even more time to fix and grow things down there.

The OP is saying "everyone" so I take that would include pedophiles and serial killers. The kind of humans that shouldn't be allowed to live. A serial killer would probably want to be dead, because they wouldn't be able to kill anyone. But a pervert would be able to countlessly have his way unless he was incarcerated. Everyone being immortal could make things very dangerous.

Another thing is the food shortage. There's already a food crisis going on and the creation of dangerous substance like GMOs, which further threaten the food system. I'm sure fruit bearing trees would still be around, but allot of world food would have to be harvested from the ocean or grown around volcanoes. I don't think we would try to grow or harvest foods from other planets.

Deforestation poses yet another threat. There's a theory that the people of Easter Island died because of deforestation. Whether it's true or not, it proves that we must be responsible with the materials on the planet. At the rate we are going, there will be very little trees and minerals to mine. A small amount of trees would be very bad because there would be no filters. If I remember correctly, a large amount of trees creates more oxygen and a small number has the opposite effect.

Immortality is a bad idea all the way round.

      • Yeah, that was my point, too much population, not enough resources to keep them all well.

Imortality would ruin everything if everyone had it.

For what?! It's important that we don't have permanence. It's how our brain works. We already live longer than we should. There was a time when people died at around 29 years old. Just enough to have fun, have kids, fall in love and die pretty. You also die just before finding out your spouse has been cheating on you. Life was good back then!
