I want to be a furry but I'm to afraid of what my friends would think. Is this normal and what should I do?
You *want* to be a furry?
Furry is not something you want to is but something you are, automatically. Its a bit like a sexuality.
Whether you want to tell your friends, and to which extent you want to take part in the furry community, is up to you.

Being a furry is what you yourself want a furry to be. The furry fandom is a broad subject; it has many people in it from all over and it tends to be a large umbrella term for a broad variety of individuals.
When revealing it to your friends do so in a thoughtful and careful manner. You might start by asking your friends if they have heard of them.
And test the waters. You know your friends, you probably have a good idea how they might react. Be willing to anticipate where the conversation might be headed if you discuss it.
I revealed it to my best friend; I knew he would have no issue with it. It went well. He was curious and asked me several questions about it. He then saw my fur-suit and wanted to see me wearing it. This friend knew I wanted a wolf suit when I was in high school. When I put it on and showed him he said "Wow! He is totally you!"
Your friends, those you trust and can talk to about it, will be the most understanding, perhaps more so than your family.
Your friends aren't your friends if they won't accept something you enjoy if it doesn't effect them negatively.
Hey, if anything, It filters out who of your friends actually care about YOU and not what you enjoy. If they don't care/mind about the furry stuff, thats a good friend imo. ^^

its not actually that rare anymore there are alot of furries out there they are just very hard to find and most of them nowadays are just in it for the sexual aspect . im a furry and now most people think that being a furry is basically liking to have sex in animal costumes as they put it and some even relate it to beastiality the 2 main questions i get when someone finds out im a furry is
1.does that mean you like having sex in animal costumes
2.does that mean you like to have sex with animals
Furry's what you define it for yourself. It's such a wide ranging fandom that there's groups of furries that will accept you based on what you, personally, like and believe in.
I enjoy every aspect of it except for the cons and the fur suits. There's just something i find slightly unsettling about people in fur suits and I don't know what.
Be careful what friends you tell and what you tell them your in to. You should probably just hint at it first and if they ask then tell them as long as you know they're not a furry basher. Good luck! :)
