Is it normal to want to be closer to my teacher in a motherly way?

I'm a senior, so it's my last year at school, and I have one teacher that I really look up to. I try really hard in her class and I look forward to it every single day. My passion is her class' subject. She encourages me, and actually helped me through a really, REALLY hard time in my family without knowing it. Would it be appropriate to write her a thank you card at the end of the year for just being an inspiring teacher? I'm hoping to use her subject as a career path, so it would be a thank-you for that, as well as her encouragement and support. I just really want her to approve me, and to be her favorite. Is this normal?

Sometimes, we call our teacher "Mom". ..On accident...

Yes that is normal. Our situations are exactly the same except the mother part. She was my fave teacher and I put all my effort in her class. She did show me a little attention , but I'm pretty sure she did the same for others. I was flattered that she told me she love me pretty much everyday.

It's completely normal! You may mean a lot to her too! Telling someone how much they mean to you is a nice thing if they really appreciate you. As long as you do keep it appropriate, which I think you will! It's amazing to have an inspirational teacher and she should know that! :)

Last semester I had a teacher like that, she cared for her students like they were her our children. Best teacher I ever had! ^_^

if she got caught treating you in some more personal way differently from your class then they would treat it as badly as you having sex with her. She would be handed a dishonourable dismissal, struck off the teachers register and could never teach again for the rest of her life.

So even if you think she is leaning towards the same direction, do not let her risk ruining her career. you can do if after you have left school. Then the law can't touch you!

I don't think so, no. (Also, I read the story as if it was written by a girl, but oh well...)

          You're right. :) I'm a girl.

          And that's disgusting.

Pretty normal. Looking back to the person who helped you is a great way to make that teacher realize how thankful you are.

    Hats off.
