Is it normal to want to be friends and interact with anime characters?

I hope that virtual reality will become so advanced that anime characters will become smart enough to interact with us. Imagine being the main character of your favorite anime... not just through a game, but with all of your 5 senses engaged!

Sounds normal to me. Sometimes I fantasize that I live in my favorite sitcoms, or I think about different scenarios that the characters might do.

This is unhealthy, anime is designed to be engrossing and addictive, especially for young men, but getting to the point where you seriously want to meet these characters in real life is a sign you’re in too deep.

Those characters are not real people. They are drawn and voice acted based on corporations’ knowledge of what young nerds want in order to appeal to them as much as possible.

You need to put more effort into your real life instead of being swept away in a digital fantasy.

When I was a kid one of my favorite shows was Super Robot Monkey Team Hyper Force Go, and because I was a lonely child I would always fantasize about meeting the characters from the show and going on weird space-faring adventures, especially since I didn't have many real friends tying me back to reality.

Funnily enough, one of the most interesting and tragic villains on the show was a lonely in-universe fan of the team named Gyrus Krinkle. In his final appearence on the show, Gyrus builds a virtual reality machine in which he traps the team and forces them to pretend to be his friends so he could live out his fantasies of being the main character. At the end of the episode the VR machine is destroyed with Gyrus still inside, with the implication being that he is now trapped alone in his fantasy world forever.

So... I guess it's normal? Really it'd just be escapism which is fine, but if it were to become a substitute for reality it crosses the line into being sad. If VR becomes really advanced remember to take caution and not be like Gyrus. Gyrus was a fuck up

Also I kinda miss Pucca and Sonic X.

          They were also awesome.

I think I've had Pucca's intro music stuck in my head on repeat for about 11 years now. That show was great.

Get Ed was another one I really liked

I still have the image in my head of Pucca kissing Garu on the cheeks.

I probably did also watch Get Ed, the name sounds familiar.

I don't think it's normal, but that's probably mostly due to the fact that I'm not into anime, never have been, and never will be. However, it's probably quite common for people who are really into anime, and have few friends, and or, are socially awkward to be really into this kinda stuff.
