Is it normal to want to crochet?

It looks fun, and I want to learn... but who crochets anymore, let alone teens?

I don't want to seem uncool or weird. What do you guys think?

I'm an 18 yr old girl btw...

Thanks for your thoughts.

My mum taught me to do it as a kid. It doesn't matter who does or doesn't do it these days, if you fancy trying it, go for it.

First of all - it's very cool to know how to do something that's unique.
I've been crocheting, knitting, cross-stiching, sewing and making loads of other hand-made stuff since I was a child. As I'm currently studying and have almost no money, in my free time I do crafts and then hopefully wait to sell everything on local festivals (where I've always been the youngest one managing a stall) and by internet shopping. Extra cash is always in handy if you need to go on a shopping spree. :) It's also a great way to relax and think about meaning of life while doing something productive (you could also "read" some audiobooks :) ).
But let's be honest - who wouldn't want to wear those comfy and warm hand-made woolen slippers, wrap oneself in colorful patchwork and slowly sip tea while watching a great movie, with a sense of accomplishment in heart?

It's fine, crochet is a normal human activity. Plus if anything you'll be more cool because you'll be a rebel.

I can't crochet, though I've tried. However, I do make a few extra bucks knitting things for people! It's a craft, and very normal. I used to knit all the time sitting at a late night diner, and had a blind girl who could crochet like you wouldn't believe right there next to me. All the old folk used to commend me on my skill, and reminisce about the things truce made. I get poked fun at when I take my knitting to work, so you have to be prepared for all the over used 'granny' jokes that may come your way, but once they see the finished product, I'm sure you'll have people putting in requests of their own! (I'm 27 btw, I've been knitting since I was 18...don't let age faulter you)

It's become very trendy. I like to knit but want to learn crochet. It's very useful.

I like to crochet. In the past I made small Christmas trees for everyone. I liked decorating them with things that, that person had interests in. They were only a foot tall. Went to a hobby shop and got teenie tiny ornaments. It was fun. I'm trying to finish my blanket now.

I made a big crochet blanket before I was 30, give it a go, it's just another hobby...
