Is it normal to want to hurt myself or others when mad or sad?

Whenever I'm mad I just want to punch the wall repeatedly or punch someone which often results in me crying. And to calm down I have to sink my nails into my palm and it's getting harder and harder to not punch the wall.

    I punched a wall once in my life when I was 16 and broke my hand. I never did it again. Its just dumb

    I do the same thing. I dig my nails into my thighs. Or punch my thighs. I agree with running.

    That’s self harm bro. Maybe not as damaging as the typical slicey slice but self harm none the less. You need to find a better outlet for your stress. Like TheStarsShallFall said exercise is great for this type of thing. Maybe try kickboxing or some other kind of martial arts.

    When I get particularly violent I imagine doing violent things. Then afterwards dissect on how doing so is immoral and plain stupid.

    I was in anger management as a child before I developed that system.
