Is it normal to wear earplugs almost everywhere i go?

Okay, so I have extremely sensitive senses, so I take precautionary measures so I don't get migraines. One way is by wearing earplugs. I have long hair that covers my ears, so they can't be seen. Normally, everywhere I go is just way too loud for me and sets me off into a migraine. When I wear earplugs, the noise level is usually much more tolerable for me. I still hear everything everyone else does, but I also hear my breath sounding like Darth Vader. I don't wear them when visiting friends, but I absolutely have to wear them at church, restaurants, movies, concerts, etc. Here are other things I have to do: so many other things set me off into a migraine, like smoke, perfumes, or chemicals. So, I have to avoid many places, or take smelling oil with no alcohol in it and pour some onto a napkin and hold it over my nose when I come into contact with those things. Does anybody else have that problem?

My mother has always been like this, though not to the same degree as you. But she wears ears plugs often in church, and she can sit next to people wearing cologne or perfume, and she's always liked her
flood very bland, bright lights give her a headache. When I was younger, I used think she was suffering from the same disease (hyperesthesia) the brother and sister had in Edgar Allen Poe's Fall of the House of Usher.

I hate to break it to you, but... why can't you stand the places with even the slightest of sounds??

Good idea. My hearing is between that sensitive and normal, so I need some that only filter out a bit.

Not normal but I think your method is very acceptable. There are days when I cannot bear sharp background noises and the overbearing sunlight peaking through my curtains, bouncing off my white walls.. it aggravates me so I nap the pain away.

The earplugs thing is pretty smart. Last time I had a bad migraine i took a sick day and didn't leave my bed.
