Is it normal to wear my friends religious symbol?

My friend bought me a star of David necklace before he went away to college. He made me promise not to take it off, so I wear it everyday. And every single day at least one jewish person ask me "You're not jewish, are you?" and when I tell them my friend boguht it for me and that I'm actually catholic and they just stare at me weirdly. So now I'm starting to wonder if it's normal to wear his religious symbol around my neck all the time?

  • well if you wear the star of david on your neck everyday, people are bound to assume you are a jew. so get used to them asking. but if you're okay with people thinking that and okay with correcting them, then i see no problem with it. after all, it's to remember your friend. (:

I don't just wear it because he told me to. I wear it because his religion means a lot to him and so do I. I wear it because I love him and he one of the most important people in my life.

You should wear a swastika too, just to clear things up.

  • Would you wear a "Yes We Can" shirt if you voted for McCain? A Seig Heil stop watch if you were with HindenBurg? No?

Then don't wear religious articles that you don't believe in.

  • Their confusion likely stems from the fact that Jews are very secular and racist.

Yes but not in how your views are but just in the fact that you must have a lot of respect for your friend and value what he/she says.
