Is it normal to wear scottish clothes &c because you're scottish?

My great grandfather comes from Scotland, and I bought a lot of tartans (Scottish, of course), and they're genuine Scottish items. I don't choose based on a clan, but by preference and mood. I have a Douglas Blue Scottish tartan cashmere scarf, a tartan tie, Harris Tweed suit jacket, and a Harris Tweed wallet to name a few, I have lots of traditional unusual tartans, coming in the post right now is my Clark Ancient tartan Scottish cufflinks, which are blue not red. This is because I'm Scottish, and I'm following my Scottishness, I'm even going to get a kilt, is this normal?

    Check out the history of the clan tartans, and you'll discover it's largely a bunch of Victorian hooey.

    If you ever visit Scotland, you'll find that the tartan thing is mainly for tourists. Some Scots choose to wear tartan at special-dress events like weddings, but only a few obsessives and Nationalist types make a point of displaying their clan affiliation. There's also the fact that a lot of modern-day Scots don't have any Highland ancestry, so the whole thing is irrelevant to them.

    My great grandparents.grandparents my mum all come from Scotland.my mum and me are allowed to wear 3 different tartans .murray.McNeil of barra.and Buchanan but only wear McNeil for family occasions weddings funeral s christening.and hogmany but have seen many fellas wearing tartan kilts at football matches in Scotland

    I think it's awesome that you want to honor your heritage. German roots run deep in my family tree, so I've fantasized often about wearing those dresses you see the Fraulein wearing at Oktoberfest.
