Is it normal to where ear plugs and an eye mask when sleeping?

I have worn an eye mask and earplugs to bed every night for the past 6 years. It's not particularly loud in my house, it's just an old habit and now I get woken up at the slightest noise or small amount of light, if I sleep without them.
