Is it normal to wish there were more video games that are not violent?
It isn't that I don't like violence. I love killing some zombies or shooting up Beachgate in GTA IV just as much as the other guy. Shit, my favorite video game moment was when I shot a rocket launcher in GTA IV and that woman hit the trash can. By the way, yelling "Who's the white trash now, bitch!" at 1:25 AM is a good way to get blessed out. Remember that when you've drank 2 pots of coffee and had 2 Monsters, k?
But I like chill video games and games that work your mind too. Most modern video games are essentially violent. How many of your games are rated T or M because of violence? Most of mine are. And a lot of mine are the same concept in a different wrapper. Even RPGs are 50% battle. I know violence and video games go well together. But so does a lot of other things.
Most people consider anything with a rating of E-E to be for kids, and some people consider T to be for kids. A lot of the games with low age ratings ARE designed for kids. But some aren't. Sims is okay for kids to play, but it wasn't designed especially for kids. The old retro games like Mario were designed for everyone to play. But many people will call you a kid if you play Sims. Even Mario, a classic game, is marketed to children now.
Why do people think a game must be violent if it is for adults? This does cause problems. Kids are given crappy games that are really glorified advertisements. Of course, some do play the violent games, but not all. Game companies put sexual stuff in their games to get it up to M, because it gets more sales as an M. I'm not complaining about the fanservice, but Moral Gaurdians won't let their kids play it and will condemn parents who do to pariah status. Unless the parents are in the country or are lower-middle class. There, people have some priorities.
And online gaming would be so much better on games that are not violent.
is it normal to think this? I know it's long, but I have a lot to say and a long attention span.
