Things like abortion, the death penalty, bombing civilians in wartime. All these things destroy human life, but people act like it's somehow fine. Well, I don't think any of those things are good.

We do the same to other species, so it is poetic justice. Humanity will never find peace neither do they deserve to.

Humanity is neutral, neither good nor evil. Humans are just animals that got the farthest along. If you go to an alien planet I would be far, far more surprised if they where a 100% peaceful throughout time civilization.
We will never find peace because we are too individualistic as a species to be capable of doing so. We dont have a hive mind, no matter what goverment is put in place theres always an X factor with people independently choosing what's best for themselves.
Since humanity collectively did worse and the time we call "violent" is actually the most peaceful time in human history.

Getting your legs blown off by a cannonball and the 20 or so people were behind you being shredded.
In a village that lost a seige and the invaders are now actively raping and killing everyone you knew and loved, pillaging as they went along.
In the modern day there are BILLIONS of us where every year 65 MILLION people die. So yeah the amount of death and dismemberment might be at an all time high but for the majority of us we get to enjoy the most peaceful time in human history.
Peaceful? Lol no. It may not be as bad as 500 years ago, but these times are no better. It is nowhere near "peaceful".
Relatively? Hell yes its peaceful. Idk if you know about humans but we are extremely violent towards one another.
