Is it 'okay' to see a formation lights when in the dark?

This only started about two years ago, but has had me wondering ever since and it still occurs every night. When I open my eyes in the dark I usually see these bright bright neon colors floating very near/ or maybe inside my eyes. These bright cloudish colors act as if solid, shielding my vision, so when I lift my hand in front of my face I can't see my hand. Nobody I know knows what I am talking about so hopefully some of you guys know something?

    Rub your eyes for 20 seconds and open them... is this what you see at night?

    Try going off all screens for at least an hour before you go to bed and turning of any screens in your bedroom.

    There's research (sorry I don't have a reference) that being on any screens for long periods of time affects your vision and also your sleeping patterns.
