Dogs will put up with a lot for a long time, but some will eventually give it back to you, in spades. Perhaps you should show a bit of kindness to your pet, rather than sadism.
When my first cat was still alive, my mother's dog had a masochistic relationship with her. He would go out of his way to aggravate her. She would go out of her way to chase and attack him. He seemed to enjoy this a lot, which made us wonder if he was a masochist.
There isn't any definite way you can tell if it does like pain. Most likely it does't. Therefore, I would keep off hurting it.
Besides, if it's a large dog, watch your step. I got attacked by my Blacky once just for stroking him the wrong way.
She had a dog called Blacky and I can't access her profile.
It's just a question.
I was thinking the exact same thing. My youngest cat constantly bothers me, comes up and head nudges me, tries to scratch me playfully. So I'd roughly scratch and pat her and everytime I do that she comes to me more and more trying to cuddle the hand that was doing it to makeme do it more. If I tried that withmy eldest cat my brother would wake up with my head on the other side of the bed like out of Godfather. >_>
