Is it possible for an atheist to become us president? is it normal?

Apparently, there's no way for an non-believer to be elected US President.

Is it true? And if it is, don't you think it's a screaming case of unequality and discrimination?

Is it normal that atheists are being discriminated in the US politics?

Yes, it is possible that people would elect an atheist 32
Yes, but he would have to fake being religious 24

Of course. They'd just have to lie about it. Lying is an essential skill for an politician.

At this point, I think more Americans are interested in having a GOOD President than a Christian president. I might be giving my fellow citizens too much credit but give it a few years and the possibility will grow.

I reckon it is possible, 50 years ago if you asked the average citizen if it was possible if a Black man can be president they would of certainly said no. Look at the last elections, you had a Mormon vs a Black person running for president. Even Mormons in the early history of the United States were prosecuted for their beliefs.

I don't think it's possible as many people believe that if you are an atheist you are full of immoral thoughts and look down on everyone.
I'm an atheist and I have respect for people's beliefs and try to show respect for people I meet

Who says an atheist would have to be an extremist? I completely disagree with that. I'm an atheist myself, but certainly not extreme. I respect all religions for what they are, I'm just not religious myself. That's all atheism is.

So what exactly made you believe this was impossible? You just run. I think you need to be rich or know a rich guy though because campaigns cost a lot of money. We have gay groups, save the animal groups, black groups, white groups, Hispanic groups, womens group and you believe that a atheist running for president is absurd why? Do you know how many rights group there is? I am sure you could get one of them to back you.
