Is it racist guy said..

"Why do people eat Indian food it smells like shit and makes you shit"

To me that's racist because you're insulting food from a specific culture and being disrespectful just because you have a weak stomach..

Is it racist or no? People agreed with this person and laughed but I think it's rude and racist

Yes racist 12

I think it has to do with the spices. Indian food has many spices and if you did not grow up like that it will upset your stomach

Racism would be insulting the people in that race directly, not a cuisine. That is just preference, but maybe he could have said it in a less rude way

More specifically racist would be if he insulted the people of a race based on their race not on cuisine.
One's diet can be changed, not so much for one's race.

Would you sit down to a dish of Kutti Pi?

It's not even racist, people who told you that it is racist are likely stupid.

    • How is it not racist? If someone says "American food is shit and makes you shit" isn't racist?

Are you Indian? Is that why you take offense to it? Just let it go. People are entitled to their opinions of food.

If you're not Indian why are you getting offended for people? I'm Hispanic and it agitates me when people get offended for me. It's patronizing as hell and embarrassing.

Amen to that, I’m Latino, or as many like to call us, ‘brown person,’ and the fact that somebody actually told me I was being oppressed by “white people” while I was literally on a date with my “white” girlfriend is rude and also just what the hell, people are people and the only oppression I’m experiencing is you interrupting our meal ma’am, mind your business and let it go

You believe "American" is a race? I'm pretty sure a lot of Americans wouldn't agree with you on that.

If you're really desperate to be offended by what the guy said about Indian food and you're frantically searching for some negative label to slap on him, you could reasonably call him bigoted. That just means he's blindly and inflexibly attached to some belief system which is demeaning of some other group of people.

But is he blindly and inflexible attached to the belief? Sounds more like he hasnt found the combination of spices that suits him or he was legitimately eating bad indian food.

I dont think you can apply bigot to someones taste palate.

First of all, if someone says it's shit it's an opinion.

If for instance, someone told me Trini food tasted like trash then that's OK and it wouldn't make that person racist.

I don't really think you know what the word racism means, the word racism would mean that you're being antagonistic towards a person who is involved in a specific racial or ethnic group.

Aren't people entitled to their own opinions about food? I had to re-read your post and you seem to be hella bothered by other people's opinions.

It's an opinion. Foods are shit if they come from a different part of the world. Flavors you ain't used to.

    Blood sausage fucking sucks

Hes not wrong. Indian foods have more god damn spices that what's necessary for making food. Granted it tastes good sometimes but most of the time salt is good enough for meat.

You think indian food has a lot of spices? Wait until you eat african food. They use a lot of spices. Just so you know, there is never a limit to how many spices you put in food.

It really depends. African food is a pretty vast network of thousands of different ethnic and regional cuisines that tends to fluctuate quite a bit due to geopolitical instability in a number of regions.

Areas with a lot of poverty and not much biodiversity tend to not be able to afford many spices. Even salt is a luxury in some places. Regions with a lot of biodiversity, such as the Horn of Africa, Northern Africa, and Western Africa are able to grow a variety of aromatics and usually have fairly spicy food. Regions with more highly developed economies tend to attract a lot of immigration or tourism from areas that use a lot of spices, such as Southern Africa.

I'm from Uganda, the food is mostly mild.

Ethiopian and other Horn of Africa cuisines have a reputation of being particularly spicy.

Educate someone else. All I know is that a lot of african people use a lot of peppers.

    • Salt is boring, American food is usually bland but all other cultures have lots of flavor in their food to make it taste incredible.

Based on a quick google search, the racism is defined as: "prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism by an individual, community, or institution against a person or people on the basis of their membership of a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalized."

Let's look at the word prejudice. It's defined as: "preconceived opinion that is not based on reason or actual experience."

Many have said that prejudice is a more extreme version of bias. While I'll leave that argument up to you, I would in this case say that what was said can be defined as a negative opinion. Anything else is up for debate.

He expressed an opinion and then - presumably - a nugget of anecdotal personal experience.

I don't think it's racist, since he's not maligning a group of people per se.

As is always the case when people spout such nonsense, his comment says a lot about the guy and nothing significant about the topic. Only stupid people lack the ability to distinguish between opinion and fact. Only idiots believe that their opinion about something is the irrefutable truth. Only fools believe that their experience of something must be the same as how everyone else experiences that thing.

It was just alittle rude. It would have been more rude if he said it to Indians because then hes insulting their food. But I dont think its racist.

I'm weary of tasting almost all Indian cuisines. My staple Indian dish whenever I'm at Indian restaurants is 'Chicken Tikka Masala with Naan'. It is the only Indian dish I've ever tasted. I first tasted it when I was working as an unqualified marketeer, (to make an extra buck,) at an Indian restaurant in my early college days.

I don't think you can be racist towards food, even if it is from another culture. Many people dislike the taste and smell of certain foods from different cultures, and have different reactions to it. It's a matter of what appeals to your senses rather than believing people of a specific ethnicity are beneath you.
