Is it strange to get married to a gay man as a straight female?

My cousin is a landlord for a few small homes in her area.

She's young and her tenants are typically young too so she becomes friends with them. What I'm about to tell you I don't even believe myself. Two of her tenants are gay males married to STRAIGHT females.

One of them realized he was gay 4 years after marriage and 8 years of being together. He told her but they're staying together for the kids.

The other couple he knew and they got married anyway??!! What????

He knew since he was 15 that he was gay and they dated since then and he only told his girlfriend no one else and years later at 30 years old they got married.. they're 32 now WHAT. I was there when they told us the story of how they met... she's straight he's gay and all their friends and family know now since he came out to everyone after their wedding. They aren't intimate because of it.

I'm so confused.

As a biman if they have kids then they had sex at some point so he's not gay he's bi. But that doesn't mean he's still interested in her. Very unfair of him to not tell her before they were married. My wife knew and still wanted to marry me.

He’s not necessarily bi, you can have sex with someone without finding them attractive. It sounds to me more like he desperately tried to convince himself he was bi, otherwise why not come out as bisexual?

This seems fairly logical. Obviously it's more common for the woman to be the one uninterested, but there are cases of men being the ones "just laying there".

Not sure how this wasn't an immediate conclusion.

    Two questions:

    1. When did both couples get married?
    2. When did gay marriage become legalized in your country?

If the marriages were set up before gay marriage was officially a thing it might have been a convenience thing. A lot of gay people used to force themselves into straight marriages.

Its kind of wholesome to hear someone still puts their kids first today.

Why wouldnt you date another minor as a minor? Isnt that healthy for their development?

No minors cannot consent no matter who it is. I think it's disgusting for a minor to date a minor and is sick and gross. If a boy couldn't consent to me - then he can't consent to a girl the same age. It's simple.
I NEVER dated as a minor and I never had a first kiss or had sex even to this day.

My mom got married to my dad when she was 16 and it was her second marriage 😂

What do you think of that?

Its projecting your own feelings on others. If someone is more successful than you in something its better to just be happy for them. Dont project your failures on others for succeeding.

Maybe he has very low sex drive. In that case he could tolerate marrying a woman as he wouldn't want sex very often anyway and it would work as long as he platonically loved her and could happily share a life with her as friends. I'm not sure why someone who KNOWS they're gay would marry someone of the opposite gender still though, unless it's just because they find it too difficult to find a partner of the same gender. I don't see what the woman gets out of it either unless she's asexual and only desires sharing a life with someone mostly platonically. I know it's common, especially for women, to realize they're gay after years of marriage and having sex with men but never enjoying it. That happens because of how many people grow up in very "straight" communities hence never realize they could be gay because it was never an option, and so they just assumed their deep feelings of friendship with people of the opposite gender was romantic love. That's a whole other situation though and most would probably get divorced after such a realization.

Sounds like maybe they did it out of pressure? I love where I grew up, but I'd be lying if I said there weren't some very stupid cultural pressures. People here would probably see it as a huge positive that gay men ended up marrying straight women, but I just see it as sad resignation for all 4 people involved

Is it possible that he just started liking men?

well, marriage isn't necessarily romantic. you can marry your best friend if you want to. there's no rule that says you can't.

I could see that tbh if they both have a low sex drive, basically just staying together cuz the (non-sexual) compatibility, maybe they even let each other fuck other men on the side just to fill their needs.

Is it possible that the couple who always knew the man was gay got married because they needed the benefits?

If the man is gay then it wouldn't make him gay it would make him more bi if he likes or married a woman.
