Is it true quality of fast food has gotten worse?

I've not gotten any decent, let alone good tasting fast food in years. I notice how most fast food places, especially Burger King, Pizza hut, and KFC taste alot worse than once before, but also Wendy's and McDonalds aren't the same anymore either, and numerous others. Most of these fast food places tasted noticeably better 20-25 years ago than they do today. Burger King lost their good taste around the turn of 2000, Pizza hut around the mid 1990s, it was really good in the 80s and early 90s when I was a kid and teenager. Wendys and McDonalds were quite better in around 2007 and 2008 than in last couple years. I'm not 100% sure if this downfall in taste has more to do with actual quality having really gone downhill or if it's more to do with taste buds changing as you get older. Check which box you all think it is, and state your opinions.

Quality really went downhill 6
It's more to do with changing taste buds as you age 4
These places taste just as good as ever 2

Taste buds are like any of our other senses, they are susceptible to deterioration as we age. I stopped in at McDonalds and had two Big macs, two large fries, and two fish sandwiches, with a Diet pop. It all tasted very good.

    • If you were talking about Burger king, I'd be saying that you must be really young because if you were around 25 years ago, you would've tasted how much better it was then. But, since you're talking about McDonald's, they were better 10 years ago. So you're either like under 10 or 12, or I'm mistaken about quality going downhill and it's to do with my aging taste buds. Then again, if it's my taste buds, how do you explain why some places like Pizza hut and Burger King being worse after 2000, and others like McDonald's not getting worse until within the last 10 years?

Your instincts are telling you the truth about the food. These fast food places are probably using cheaper ingredients so they can save money.

    • That answer makes the most sense to me. That way I'm guessing that Burger King and Pizza hut decided to become cheapskates around 20 years ago, but Wendy's and McDonald's not until within the past 10 years.

Thats probably because it was already cheap for Wendy's and Mcdonald's to begin with.

Then later maybe the price of goods rose, so they had to find cheaper products.

        Just a guess :P

His answer could be true as well, it's hard to say.
