Is it weird that i love the schumacher bat-films?
My introduction to the Batman films(and superhero movies in general) was Batman Forever.A long time ago I picked up a VHS copy at a rummage sale(don't judge me, VHS was my childhood). I watched it and immediately fell in love with it. It was action packed, it was funny, it was bizarre and entertaining. I loved it so I went out and bought all four batflicks. I watched Batman 1989 next because it was the original, and was kind of put off because it was darker and more serious(I got over it and it has since become my favorite). Fast forward to Batman and Robin. Oh yes, the big one. I didn't know what to expect from it, I hadn't heard of it until I had it. Nobody told me it was supposed to be bad. So I watched it.
And I loved it.
It was the funniest movie I had seen. It had bad puns, campy acting, ridiculous action scenes and a touch of heartfelt family bonding. To my naive pre-teen eyes, it was awesome.
Years past. I watched all the Nolan films and liked them(OK, most of them, Dark Knight Rises is depressing). I understood most people hate the cheesy neon Batman and Robin and Forever. But I couldn't, and still can't, dislike them. They were considered inferior, but I still love every minute of them, from Jim Carrey dancing around insanely in a green suit(on that note, Grinch 2000 is great), to Arnold Schwarzenegger spouting ice puns and the Bat-Credit Card. I'm sorry, internet, but I'm not sorry. These stupid movies have a very special place in my heart.
