Is it weird to call a old friend of mine's mom for his contact information?

I'm 18 and my is also 18. I dropped out of the high school we went to. Me and him used to hang out a lot and I've known him since elementary school. Would it be weird to call his mom for his phone number? Lol.

    Don't ask the mom the number, instead, give your number to the mom and ask her to ask her son to contact you. Its the safe thing all around.

    Personally, I don't give phone numbers without asking the person's permission, so in case his mum has the same views, you could give her your phone number to pass on for him to contact you.

    I assume you've looked for him on facebook?

    You guys are 18 and you don't have Facebook or some shit that you can use to get in touch with him? Other mutual friends? Weird that in today's day and age calling his mom is your best bet to get in touch with him. If he can afford to have left home at 18 I have to believe he has a cell phone. Weird that you have your friends moms phone number but not friends phone number.

    This was normal 30 years ago.
