Is making eye contact flirting or disrespectful?

I thought that it was rude to NOT make eye contact when speaking to someone.

It could be any of the above, depending on context. Humans are complicated like that.

It's considered disrespectful to look someone in the eyes in Asia

I'll keep that in mind the next time I'm in Asia.
How about staring at her boobs? How's that in Asia?

It is only considered disrespectful if her husband is not there. You have to do it in front of the husband or her father if the woman is not married

If you are an attractive male it is flirting. If you are an ugly male, it is disrespectful.

You do not establish dominance with women. You are granted dominance by being attractive.

I have a hard time trusting people who are unable to make eye. I also don't like limp, cold fish handshakes. I prefer eye contact and a firm handshake.

Depends on the person. I personally never make eye contact and I don't like it when people do. It's how we are in Norway, for example.

To flirt you want to make contact but not too much eye-contact. You really have to understand the person and read what they're comfortable or not. If they're not comfortable then it's not normal to want to pursue a lot of eye-contact.

Eye-contact doesn't necessarily mean flirting. Context matters a ton. It means different things to different people in different situations. Lack of eye-contact also means a lot too.

I don't think it means necessarily any of those things, I think it means more like they are either taking you seriously or they have/want an emotional connection with you, which that could be flirting but I don't think it's exclusive to that

I look into people's eyes and like when they do the same.
