Is my school normal?

Is/was your school like mine? I think mine is worse than most.

-200 students in entire school
-Can't go to bathroom if someone else is already there
-Saying the pledge is required (A student is punished if he/she doesn't say it)
-No electronics
-No pop in pop machine; only vitamin water
-Loud, obnoxious principal
-Can't lean back in chair or put feet up
-Only sports are volleyball, basketball, golf, football, and cheerleading
-Can't have more than three tardies per class
-Can't leave to get food during lunch (Must eat in cafeteria)
-Some rancid food in cafeteria
-Make a student pay 5-30 dollars for a book if it has something as small as flimsy binding

Some of these I believe are normal, however, please compare your school with mine and let me know.

You are lucky you even get to go to the bathroom. Some of the teachers at my school wouldn't let us go no matter what!

It appears I am the resident OLD guy... the Disgruntled Old Coot.

I was a middle school and high school teacher for 3 years.

Not bragging... I was very popular with most, but not all, of the students.

I taught the truth in whatever class I was in... a substitute teacher covering all types of classes.

I left the educational field after 3 years for various reasons, one being I could not be a part of a HUGE educational system with one of its major functions being the indoctrination of USA youth to OBEY!!!!!

OBEY all authority. Obey the elite-ruling class. Obey our corporate masters.

The folks at the top of the socio-economic hierarchy send their kids to special private academies where the indoctrination the vast majority of students receive is not present; those privileged kids are indoctrinated to be the next master ruling class.

if somebody tries to make anybody say the pledge, they are breaking the law. they cannot legally make anyone say the pledge, or stand.

if my principle yelled at me for that, i would make him go on the computer that instant and serch it. then watch his reaction. makes me wish somebody would try to make me say it, its fun defying teachers.

I don't understand why you wouldn't say the pledge optional or not. If America bothers you that much leave.

    • The pledge is just a couple sentences. Americans take it far too seriously. People mindlessly recite it, which shouldn't happen and it only happens because people are forced to say it.

"Saying the pledge is required " that's illegal. It's against the law to force people into pledging. So, you obviously made this all up without doing a little research first and I'm under the assumption that you're around 14 years old. Yeah, you didn't learn yet. Wait 4 more years and then come back and try this question again. Hopefully next time, you will get more freaked out responses.

I live in Wisconsin and I think they just made a law where schools have to serve healthy stuff so they took out soda machine and left vitamin water one. Smaller schools tend to have less sports.

Dude, the pledge is not a law. Legally they cannot punish you for not saying it. Besides that I thought due to new laws they weren't doing the pledges anymore in schools....

Either way, the pledge is optional, it's your right and some of the other things while wierd are typical of a small town school.

    • Yeah, it's a small town school. For a few mornings, I didn't stand to say it, but I still said it with my hand over my heart. Finally the teacher in my study hall gets up and starts yelling (Yes, yelling) at me for "not appreciating my freedom." So then I get sent to the principal's office and he tells me it's required and that "I know now." He was very angry about it. Depressed me for awhile. Like I can't have the freedom to celebrate my freedom willingly? Haha. Anyway, this comment is getting too long, but I basically accepted it because it was a hassle, I planned on transferring, and the guy knows how to yell. Don't like being yelled at.

My school isn't allowed to have any electronics. And all of those rules are the same as my school. Other than the paying for the book shit.

    Comment Hidden ( show )
  • It's just school rule and you MUST obey them.

    Comment Hidden ( show )
  • Sounds pretty much like any sort of school. My school had most of those rules except the pledge thing since I'm English.

But I'd say your school is probably like most schools especially in regards to the leaning back/feet up thing.
