Is normal to blink rapidly and then blink for a long time

I'm always blinking (obviously) but it's weird. I rapidly blink (it looks as if I'm hiding tears) and then in between somewhere, I'll close my eyes tightly for 1-2 second(s), and this loop keeps going on.
Is it normal?

    Totally normal .. everybody blinks differently .. people used to ask me if I was on drugs because I blinked so much :P
