Is posture correction supposed to hurt?

Im trying to improve my posture but it kinda hurts. I'm always slouching and hunched forward when I sit but I feel it's probably bad in the long run so I want to change it. Has anyone done it successfully? If so how did you do it?

Strength and mobility training will help you greatly.
We as a species are kinda fucked up physically, so building corrective muscle in the right places will help you carry yourself in the most efficient and preservative way.

In the beginning of changing your posture it will feel awkward, and that’s because your body has modified around the way you currently hold. Many people give up on correcting themselves because “if it’s right, it should feel right” when that isn’t always the case.

I remember my father making me put a broomstick behind my midback and putting my arms back around behind it to pull my shoulders back and raise my chest.
Make sure your feet are straight on, not pigeon toed or turned out.
Equestrians will do this with a riding crop to correct themselves.

But again I recommend strength training and putting muscle where muscle should be

Yeah in my experience it does.
I remember when I hurt my back a few years ago and had to sit straight all the time to make sure it healed right and shit was uncomfortable as hell. If you're used to slouching it's gonna feel uncomfortable in the beginning to sit and stand properly because your body is used to the way you usually sit and stand.
