What doesn't make someone a racist: being born a certain color
What does make some racist: teaching people that since they were born white they're racist by default and the cause of racial division in the country. And teaching others that they're eternal victims regardless of circumstance
Being someone that grew up with a racist Arabic mother. I think it came from hate and fear. When hate didn't work on me she tried to use fear to make me racist. It never worked although some of it went into my subconscious and manifested as intrusive thoughts. My mother was also a sociopath so.... from this one person study, I think it came from complete disregard for human life and being bored and choosing races to be racist towards.
When it comes to others racism, I agree it can come from insecurity/ feeling inferior, so they try to put other people down, similar to any sort of hate/ bullying/ homophobia/ racism. And insecurity is based in fear. Anger can be a mask for fear.
So my final answer is fear is the cause of racism.
I think its linked to two major things.
1 is having only bad experiences with a certain race.
2 is being isolated from that race and the only thing you see about it is on TV which can be crime reports and whatnot.
I think blind acceptance can also be ignorance as well. Alot of the SJW crowd grows up middleclass away from the criminals in the innercity and havent a clue what its like there.
I agree. I came from a town where in my graduating class of 400 there was like 7 black kids and 2 asian kids. Then I went to the navy and a solid half came from gary indiana and all my RDCs (drill sergeants essentially) where african american.
It was a very good learning experience, toiling with other diverse groups of people really makes you non racist.
I would never want to live in a innercity black neighborhood again because it was awful but I work with alot of black people and usually get along well with them. They often have good personalities Ive noticed. I do think generally they're more aggressive though.
The ones that grow up in rural areas are totally different than the innercity ones.
I think it's linked to fear, which self-assured people are less likely to feel.
Fear isnt a bad emotion. Getting your stereotypes from "educators" sets you up for more failure than anything else.
Fear is what keeps us alive. One of my favorite books is "the gift of fear". Reading it should be mandatory to graduate highschool.
Mre liked to ignorance because all races originated from Africa. We're all related more closely than we want to believe.
No. Jesus christ.
Most racists are racists because they came from a racist family. It's what they were taught.
Insecurity can definitely contribute, but I don't think they're directly linked. If someone's racist, they're not necessarily insecure (depending on severity). If someone's insecure, they're not necessarily racist.
Not going to lie, though, whenever I've listened to people that were obviously, openly racist, they did also sound insecure. Just present them clear evidence of a good person of the color they hate, and the stuttering will begin.
